Dedrone Achieves Veracode Certification

October 19, 2021

Veracode Verified demonstrates commitment to developing the most secure software and reducing risk for customers

Dedrone, the market leaders in smart airspace security, today announced its re-certification of Veracode Verified.  The Veracode Verified program provides third-party validation of a company's secure software development processes from Veracode, the largest global provider of application security testing (AST) solutions.

“Dedrone has made secure software development a priority and a competitive advantage by adopting a mature application security program that covers the entire SDLC,” said Brian Roche, Chief Product Officer at Veracode. “In the face of the increasing cybersecurity skills gap, Veracode Verified provides value without straining limited security resources and allows organizations like Dedrone to quickly, effectively, and continuously reduce risk.”

Dedrone protects people, property, and information against unauthorized drones. Dedrone’s Veracode Verified software, DedroneTracker, ensures airspace security by detecting, identifying, locating, and mitigating small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), otherwise known as drones. Dedrone fuses data from a network of drone detection sensors, using an intelligent AI/Machine learning platform to produce critical drone traffic information, such as drone type, location, speed, flightpath, and pilot location among other data for nearly 300 different drone types. DedroneTracker detects drones regardless of their cooperation with local Unmanned Traffic Management systems, including Remote ID, allowing security providers to differentiate between authorized and malicious drones.

Dedication to AppSec

This achievement demonstrates Dedrone’s dedication to security within the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and to following proven application security principles. Veracode Verified Dedrone has implemented an Application Security program and scanned first-party code to improve its security posture.

Organizations accepted into the Standard Tier have demonstrated that the following security gates have been implemented into their software development practices:

  • Assesses first-party code with static analysis
  • Documents that the application does not allow Very High flaws in first-party code
  • Provides developers with remediation guidance when new flaws are introduced

Additional security features have been added to increase security for users. The recently released DedroneTracker 5.0 includes the following security features:

  • Two-Factor Authorization: DedroneTracker users now access the software through a two-factor authentication process via time-based one-time password (TOTP) authentication
  • Advanced Password Protection: DedroneTracker user passwords are reinforced by additional criterion

“Dedrone protects the world’s most critical infrastructure with complete airspace security against unwanted drones,” shares Aaditya Devarakonda, CEO of Dedrone. “With the Veracode Verification of our software, Dedrone provides customers the assurance that they can confidently manage their airspace security and understand that the security of the software is constantly tested and resilient against vulnerabilities.”

Measuring the Strength of Dedrone’s Application Security Posture

Veracode Verified provides a holistic, objective view of an organization’s application security program and offers three progressive tiers for measuring success and assessing application security posture. Each tier is cumulative, building upon the qualifications of the previous tier and strengthening participants’ integration of security into the development process. Standard, Team, and Continuous tier status denote that progressive security steps have been implemented into the organization’s software development practice.
